JWU Hockey & Wrestling Take Center Stage in Downtown Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI – One of the biggest events on the Johnson & Wales University calendar makes its return while a new favorite takes a leap to the big stage. The annual Hockey at the Dunk games have been scheduled for Thursday, January 25 while the Friday Night fights wrestling match is now the Downtown Showdown and will be held at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Thursday, February 8.

For the fifth year in a row, Johnson & Wales will play a game at the Dunkin Donuts Center. This year both the men's and women's teams will take on Nichols. The women's game is set for 5 p.m. while the men go on at 8 p.m.

JWU students get in free by presenting their JWU ID at the Dunk the night of the game. Tickets for staff, faculty and the public are $8 and may be purchased through Ticketmaster now or at the athletics department office in the Wildcat Center on December 11.

Normally held at the Wildcat Center, the wrestling team is moving its annual showcase meet to the PPAC stage. No. 4 Johnson & Wales will take on rival #19 Roger Williams University at 6:30 p.m. In addition, Brown University will take on Harvard University that same night.

Johnson & Wales students get in free by presenting their JWU ID at the PPAC the night of the event. Tickets for staff, faculty and the public may be purchased through the PPAC website starting December 11.
