STANDISH, Maine – The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team nearly came through with its second comeback win in a row, but fell just shy on Tuesday. The Wildcats dropped a 69-62 decision at Saint Joseph's.
Saint Joseph's: 7-6, 2-2
Johnson & Wales: 6-6, 3-1 GNAC
Randall Ferdinand: 19 points, 10 rebounds
Brian Hogan-Gary: 16 points, 5 assists
Jarell Lawson: 10 points
JWU was down eight points (55-47) with seven minutes left in the second half. Four different Wildcats scored during an 8-0 run to pull JWU within a basket. Unfortunately, Johnson & Wales would only make three more shots the rest of the game as the Monks held on for the victory.
Saint Joseph's had the advantage inside, outrebounding Johnson & Wales, 43-33, to go along with a 44-38 points in the paint margin. The Monks also outshot JWU, 46.8%-to-40.9%.
Junior Randall Ferdinand (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) led the Wildcats with 19 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double in three games. Brian Hogan-Gary (Staten Island, NY) produced 16 points while Jarell Lawson (Providence, RI) chipped in 10.
Johnson & Wales is back at home on Saturday to take on Lasell at 3 p.m.
