JWU Men’s Ice Hockey Bounced Back to Beat UNE 4-0


PAWTUCKET, RI – After giving up eight goals on Friday night to the University of New England, the Johnson & Wales University defense was unflappable Saturday. The Wildcats picked up their first victory of the season as they defeated the Nor'Easters 4-0.

Of Note:
For the second game in row, Nicholas Pezza (Smithfield, R.I.) got the Wildcats on the board. He took the pass from Chad Guderian (Coppell, Texas) and fired a wrist shot that beat Tate Sproxton top shelf.

In the second period, Johnson & Wales got the second goal of the night on the power play. Victor Carlsson (Kalmar, Sweden) slid the puck in front of the goal for Craig Hessenius (Brookfield, Conn.) and his one-timer beat Sproxton.

The Wildcats added an insurance goal in the third period. Junior Zachary England (Redbank, N.J) poked the puck in front of the goal and Alan Boozer (Detroit, Mich.) pushed it into the net.

Rookie Mike Rockwell (Poughquag, NY) came up big in goal for the Wildcats, making 41 saves to pick up his first collegiate victory.
