Recchia Scores Twice in 4-3 Win over Stonehill

PAWTUCKET, RI – Rookie Jason Recchia found the back of the net twice, including the game-winner, to lift the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team to victory on Saturday. The Wildcats defeated Division II Stonehill College, 4-3.

Of Note:
The Skyhawks struck for two goals in the opening period. Sean Conley lifted the puck high in the air and it snuck over the shoulder of JWU goalie Mike Rockwell. Ninety seconds later, Connor Tedesco scored his first goal of the season on a putback.

Johnson & Wales answered with two goals of its own. Six seconds into the power play, Chad Guderian (Coppell, Texas) fired a laser on the one-time pass from Mike Rodriguez (Bronxville, NY).

Ten minutes later, Recchia (Shelby Township, Mich.) scored his first collegiate goal when his slap shot from the point found the back of the net.

Stonehill pulled ahead midway through the third period, but the Wildcats answered with a pair of goals. Ryan Sete (Jackson, Mich.) ripped a slap shot from the point to tie the game. With one minute remaining, Guderian got the faceoff to Recchia and he drove it home for the game-winner.
