Men’s Lacrosse Drops 8-4 Decision to Norwich

The men's lacrosse team fell to Norwich, 8-4 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on the road on Saturday afternoon at Castleton State College.

Senior Keegan Donaher (Chelmsford, Mass.) gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the first quarter with 8:52 left to play. JWU took a two goal advantage into halftime after a Chris Macchi (Hastings, N.Y.) tally with an assist to sophomore Tyler Thompson (West Chester, Pa.) improved their lead to 2-0.

The scoring picked up in the third quarter when Norwich tied things up at 2-2 with just under nine minutes left in the quarter. Macchi and Donaher each tallied their second of the game to give the Wildcats a 4-3 lead before the Cadets scored with one second left in the quarter to tie the game at 4-4. Norwich then scored four times in the fourth, with Seth Fuller and Mike Lavery scoring two apiece to earn the 8-4 victory.

Senior Mike Russo (Chelmsford, Mass.) made 14 saves in the loss for the Wildcats while Mike Paradiso collected eight saves in the win for Norwich.

With the setback, JWU falls to 2-7 and 0-4 in GNAC action while Norwich improves to 2-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, April 1st when they host Emmanuel for a GNAC contest beginning at 4:00 p.m.
