JWU Men's Tennis Drops 7-1 Contest To Mitchell
Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales men's
tennis team fell to Mitchell, 7-1 in a non-conference contest at
the Moses Brown Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
Mitchell freshman Rocco Devona (Waterford, Conn.)
posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles and teamed with sophomore
Tyler Engleberg (Niantic, Conn.) for a 9-7 win at
first doubles. Junior Adam Samuels (New Rochelle,
N.Y.) had a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles and posted
an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles with senior Chris White
(Marshfield, Mass.).
Freshman Tucker
Plimpton (Exeter, N.H.) picked up the lone victory for
JWU, posting a 6-1, 6-2 win at third singles.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 1-4 for the season
while Mitchell remains perfect at 4-0 on the year. The Wildcats
will return to action on Thursday, April 8th when they host UMass
Dartmouth for a non-conference contest at 3:30 p.m.
