WEST HARTFORD, Conn. –The Johnson & Wales University women's basketball team got off to a fast start on Thursday night and didn't look back. The Wildcats went on the road to take down Saint Joseph, 69-49.

Johnson & Wales started the game on a 12-0 run with Raquel Pederzani (Coventry, RI), Ally Mishol (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Kristen Habbel (Phoenixville, Pa.) scoring four points each. JWU had a 36-15 halftime lead and the margin grew to as many as 28 (56-28) on a pair of Gabrielle Nicastri (East Greenwich, RI) free throws.
The Wildcats shot 45.3 percent (29-of-64) while holding USJ to 18-of-60 (30 percent). Johnson & Wales also dominated the glass (55-33) and had a 42-26 advantage for points in the paint.
Pederzani led all players with a game-high 21 points while producing six assists and seven rebounds. Mishol notched her second double-double of the year against the Blue Jays – third overall – with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Britney Gallagher (New City, NY) pulled in a season-high 10 rebounds.
Johnson & Wales is back at home on Saturday to host Lasell for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
