Wildcats Drop 2-1 Decision to Morrisville State

PAWTUCKET, RI – The Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team made a valiant comeback effort in the third period, but just ran out of time. The Wildcats lost 2-1 to visiting Morrisville State on Friday in the CHC opener for both teams.

Of Note:
After a scoreless first period, the Mustangs broke through for the first goal at the 3:42 mark of the second period. Alexziz Giannamore scored when she put back the rebounded of Ts'setkwu Dunstan's shot. Giannamore scored again with 37 seconds left in the second period on a power play.

Junior Tamara Bowden (Weymouth, Mass.) pulled the Wildcats within a goal with 2:24 remaining. She took a pass from Samantha Kawejsza (Warners, NY) and beat MSU keeper Karolina Arvik top shelf for just the second goal of her career.

The Wildcats had several good opportunities to tie the game, but Arvik and the MSU defense were able to run out the clock. Morrisville State had a 41-13 advantage in shots.
