PAWTUCKET, RI – The Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team scored a pair of third-period goals to forge a tie with Endicott on Friday. The Wildcats and Gulls tied 2-2.

The Gulls got on the board with the first goal at the 16:15 mark of the second half when Lauren Ferraiuolo scored off the assists from Maggie Layo. Endicott built a 2-0 lead when Caroline Hughes scored at the 13:22 mark of the third period.
Rookie Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) almost single-handedly tied the game in the third period. She scored off the Julia Martinsson (Charlottenberg, Sweden) pass with 6:10 left in the third period. Martinsson set up Westgaard two minutes later for the equalizer.
Endicott had a 39-19 advantage in shots, but JWU goalie Kami Weiner (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) came up with 37 saves.
The Wildcats and Gulls are back on the ice Saturday at Endicott with opening faceoff set for 3 p.m.
