JWU Women’s Hockey Beats UMass Boston 4-3

BOSTON – The Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team jumped out to an early lead and held on to win for the second time in three games. The Wildcats defeated UMass Boston, 4-3, on Saturday.

JWU: Kami Weiner (2-6-3), 35 Saves, 3 Goals

Kaitlin Irvine: 2 goals
Tamara Bowden: 3 assists

Of Note:
Kathryn Mason (Grafton, Mass.) and Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) found the back of the net for the second day in a row with goals at the 12:17 and 14:42 marks of the first period, respectively.

Rookie Kaitlin Irvine (Alexandria Bay, N.Y.) scored the first goal of her collegiate career just 1:24 into the second period on the power play. She added a second goal midway through the third period that was the eventual game-winner.

Junior Tamara Bowden (Weymouth, Mass.) factored into three of the four goals. She had three assists for the first three-point game of her collegiate career.
