Women’s Lacrosse Drops 16-8 Decision Against Lasell

The women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-8 decision against Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Britany Wuorio (Bolton, Mass.) scored six goals and added an assist for Lasell while junior Toni Minelli (Newington, Conn.) had five goals in the win for the Lasers.

Junior Natalie DiCocco (Media, Pa.) tallied four goals for Johnson & Wales while freshman Lydia Knapp (Glens Falls, N.Y.) had a goal and an assist in the loss for the Wildcats.

Lasell jumped out to the early 5-1 lead, including three from Minelli. The two teams then traded goals with Lasell taking the 9-5 lead heading into halftime.  The game remained close early in the second half as DiCocco's unassisted goal at the 32:13 mark made the score 10-6.  That would be as close as JWU would get, however as Lasell tallied six of the last eight goals of the game en route to the 16-8 victory.

Junior Alexa Katsigianis (Amherst, N.H.) had 11 saves in net for Lasell while junior goalie Genevieve Giampietro (Meriden, Conn.) had three saves in the loss for JWU.

The loss dropped JWU to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in GNAC play while Lasell improves to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in league play.  The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, March 25th when they host Anna Maria for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest starting at 4:00 p.m.
