Women’s Lacrosse Posts 21-0 Shut Out Win Over Anna Maria

The women's lacrosse team posted a commanding 21-0 shut out victory over Anna Maria in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

JWU sophomore Cassie Collins (Oswego, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with four goals while freshman Lydia Knapp (Glens Falls, N.Y.) had two goals and three assists in the victory for the Wildcats.  Junior Brittany Manfro (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) also had a hat-trick with three goals while picking up four ground balls for JWU.  Freshman Megan Brown (Great Mills, Md.), freshman Kayla Smith (Eastham, Mass.), sophomore Jessica Schmell (Coopersburg, Pa.) and sophomore Anna Oshiro (Gloucester, Mass.) each had two goals in the victory for JWU.  Junior Toni-Anne Mule (Lake Grove, N.Y.) had one goal and two assists while junior Natialie DiCocco (Media, Pa.) had a pair of assists for the Wildcats.

Junior goalie Genevieve Giampietro (Meriden, Conn.) and senior Bella Bartha (Virginia Beach, Va.) combined for the shutout victory for Johnson & Wales.  Junior Bridget Larson (Hill, Mass.) had 13 saves in the loss for Anna Maria.

With the victory JWU improves to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in GNAC play while Anna Maria falls to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in league play.  The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, March 29th when they travel to St. Joseph's of Maine for a GNAC contest starting at 4:00 p.m.
