BOSTON – A 10-0 run to start the game was more than enough for the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team to make history. The Wildcats defeated Emmanuel, 20-5, on Saturday to win their 24th GNAC game in a row.
Coming into Saturday, JWU was tied with Saint Joseph's for the record. The Monks set their streak during the 2015-17 seasons and had it stopped by the Wildcats on April 22, 2017. Johnson & Wales' last conference loss came against SJC on March 26, 2016.
Madeline Bishara tied her career-high with four goals during a 10-0 run in the first 14 minutes. Raquel Pederzani scored two of her three goals to help JWU got into the half up 12-4. Pederzani added four assists to lead all players with seven points.
Rookie Dani Lydecker keyed a 5-0 run that put the game out of reach with a pair of goals to start the second half. JWU has scored 20 goals in its last three conference contests.
The Wildcats limited the Saints to just five shots in the second half with goalkeeper Cassidy O'Hara making three of her eight saves. JWU had 37-15 advantage in shots and forced the Saints into 26 turnovers.
The Wildcats are back on the road Tuesday to take on Albertus Magnus at 6:30 p.m.
