Wrestling Lands Seven NWCA Scholar Athletes

The Wildcat wrestling team accomplished another first this year in tabbing seven athletes to the 2013-2014 NCAA Scholar All-Americans team.

Junior Andrew Stock (Shirley, N.Y.) and two-time All-American Colin Lenhardt (Gloucester, Va.) led the way academically for the Wildcats. Other members from the JWU squad to earn the honor were junior Gideon Yim (Vernon Hills, Ill.), sophomores Stephen Jarell (East Greenwich, R.I.), Desmond Towns (Morristown, N.J.), Dylen Seybolt (Ridge, N.Y.) and freshman Jared Mesiti (Brockport, N.Y.).

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a GPA of at least 3.20 (cumulative or last academic year) and meet one of the three criteria: qualify for the NCAA Championships, place in top six at the NCAA qualifier, or win more than 66 percent of matches and wrestle in 50 percent of scheduled dates.

The Wildcats wrapped up to the 2013-14 season with three NCAA All-Americans and now seven NCAA Scholar All-Americans.
