Women’s Soccer Opens 2012 Campaign With 4-0 Setback Against Union

The women's soccer squad opened the 2012 campaign with a 4-0 setback against Union in the opening night of the Rensselaer Invitational on Friday evening.

Union struck first at the 25:07 mark of the first half when sophomore Mollie Gilchrist (Johnsonville, N.Y.) put in a corner kick from the right side for the 1-0 advantage. That would be all the offense Union would need, however as the squad added another first half goal and two more in the second half en route to the 4-0 victory.

JWU freshman goalkeeper Alexa Rose (Lancaster, Pa.) finished with six saves in the loss for the Wildcats.

With the loss Johnson &W ales falls to 0-1 while Union improves to 1-0 for the year. JWU will return to action on Saturday, September 1st when they take on host RPI at 4:30 p.m.
