JWU Women’s Tennis Falls To Emerson, 6-3

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision against Emerson in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Pine Manor courts on Saturday afternoon. The host Lions swept the three doubles matches and then split the three singles contests to take the 6-3 victory.

Sophomore Laura Schwenk (Ottumwa, Iowa) had a 4-6, 6-3, 10-2 win at No. 3 singles for Johnson & Wales. Senior Amber Dea (Honey Brook, Pa.) notched a 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory at No. 5 singles while freshman Aubrie Poe (Ringgold, Ga.) had an impressive 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles for the Wildcats.

With the loss Johnson & Wales is now 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the GNAC while Emerson improves to 2-1 for the season, 1-1 in league play. The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, September 29th when they travel to Simmons for a GNAC contest, starting at 4:00 p.m.
