Women’s Tennis Eliminated From GNAC Playoffs With 5-0 Loss To Simmons
The women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision against Simmons in the semifinals of the 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at the Windsor School Courts on Saturday afternoon.
JWU trailed 3-0 after Simmons swept the three doubles matches. In singles play, Simmons used a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 by Andree Sims and a 6-2, 6-0 win at the fifth spot by Nicole Eskanzi to notch the five points needed for the victory. Sims and Eskanzi each recorded a doubles victory for the Sharks as well.
With the loss Johnson & Wales wraps up the 2011 campaign with a 9-7 record while Simmons improves to 11-3 on the season. Simmons will face the winner of Emmanuel/Emerson in the GNAC Championship on Sunday.
