Women’s Tennis Shuts Out Anna Maria, 9-0
The women's tennis squad blanked Anna Maria, 9-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Cranston West High School on Thursday afternoon.
Sophomore Ansley Sego (Naperville, Ill.) posted a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win at the third singles spot and teamed with fellow sophomore Stephanie Piperis (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) for an 8-0 win at the No. 1 doubles spot. Piperis also had a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles for the Wildcats in the victory. Sophomore Darcy Predieri (Sudbury, Ohio) notched a pair of wins on the day for JWU.
With the win Johnson & Wales is now 10-2 for the season and 5-2 in the GNAC while Anna Maria falls to 3-9 on the year and 3-4 in league play. The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, October 13th when they travel to Mount Ida for a GNAC contest at 12:00 p.m.
