Women's Volleyball Falls To Western Connecticut, 3-0 In Season Opener

The women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (18-25, 16-25, 20-25)  decision against Western Connecticut in the 2012 season opener at Feldman Arena on Friday evening.

Senior Paxton Thornton (Sharon, Conn.) led the way for Western Connecticut with 12 kills while sophomore Jennifer Hogan (Franklin Square, N.Y.) handed out 20 assists to lead the Colonials.  

Leading Johnson & Wales were junior Giselle Cram-Ortiz (Vega Alta, Puerto, Rico) with 25 digs and sophomore Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) who finished with six kills and eight assists.  Fellow sophomore Julie Snarr (Glen Allen, Va.) added five kills in the loss for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, September 1st when they take on intra-state rival Salve Regina at the WCSU Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
