Women’s Volleyball Takes Fifth Place New Paltz Invitational

The women's volleyball team notched a fifth place finish with a 2-2 record at the 2012 New Paltz Invitational, held this weekend.  On Saturday, JWU opened with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-17) win over Ithaca and wrapped up the tournament with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 26-24) win over Old Westbury.

Junior Courtney Wright (Windham, N.H.) led the way for Johnson & Wales against Ithaca, registering nine kills, four digs and two blocks while sophomore Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) had 14 set assists, seven kills and seven digs in the victory for the Wildcats.

Against Old Westbury, Wright once again led the Wildcats with nine kills and three digs while junior Natasha Finkbeiner (Belgrade, Montana) had 13 set assists and five digs for JWU. 

With the pair of victories, Johnson & Wales is now 3-9 for the season.  The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, September 18th when they host Amherst in a non-conference contest, starting at 7:00 p.m.
