Women’s Volleyball Takes Fourth At Rhody Four

The women's volleyball team notched a fourth place finish at the Rhody Four Tournament, hosted by Rhode Island College at the Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.  The Wildcats dropped a 3-0 (17-25, 22-15, 19-25) decision against Roger Williams in the opener and wrapped up the day with a 3-1 (25-15, 13-25, 19-25, 24-26) loss to Salve Regina in the consolation round.

In the setback against Roger Williams, Johnson & Wales was led by senior Karlie Haack (Selkirk, N.Y.) with five kills.  Sophomore Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) notched four kills, five set assists and six digs while junior Giselle Cram-Ortiz (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) recorded 29 digs in the loss.

Haack once again paced JWU against Salve Regina with eight kills and seven digs while Drapeau added seven kills and 14 set assists.  Cram-Ortiz notched 43 digs for the Wildcats.

With the two losses Johnson & Wales is now 9-17 on the season. The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, October 16th when they host Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Harborside RAC at 7:00 p.m.
