Women’s Volleyball Splits GNAC Tri-Match

The women's volleyball squad split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match on the road on Friday evening.  The Wildcats posted a 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-16) win against host Anna Maria and wrapped up the evening with a 3-0 (20-25, 23-25, 13-25) setback against Rivier.

Senior captain Karlie Haack (Selkirk, N.Y.) led the way for JWU in the win over Anna Maria with eight kills and two digs while sophomore Carey Kirk (Purcellville, Va.) added eight kills and three blocks for the Wildcats.  Sophomore Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) notched 13 set assists and three kills in the victory.  Anna Maria was paced by Sandy Acosta with eight kills and three digs in the setback.

In the loss to Rivier, Haack and Kirk each tallied six kills while Drapeau notched 15 set assists for the Wildcats.  Kenna Finlayson had a match high 15 kills and nine digs in the win for Rivier.

With the split Johnson & Wales is now 13-18 overall and 8-4 in the GNAC.  The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, October 30th for the quarterfinals of the GNAC Championship.
