Women’s Soccer Eliminated From GNAC Championship With 2-0 Setback Against Lasell

The eighth-seeded women's soccer team was eliminated from the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship by top-seeded Lasell, 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the tournament on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams battled back and forth in the early stages of the game with JWU having several solid scoring chances.  Lasell got on the board in the 31st minute when Bridget Lynch was able to take advantage of an open net to give the Lasers the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Lasell controlled the action in the early stages of the second half, taking the first five shots, including a goal from Devon Day in the 56th minute. The host Lasers then cruised to the 2-0 victory after a 16-3 advantage in shots for the stanza.

Sophomore Alexa Rose (Lancaster, Pa.) made five saves in the loss for JWU while Leah Pappalardo had four stops in the win for Lasell.

With the loss Johnson & Wales wraps up the 2013 season with a 6-11-3 record while Lasell improves to 15-1-3 on the season.
